Olive Green Saladier is a new organic juice and salad bar based in Johannesburg. Entrepeneur and health-conscious owner, Bonolo Sebambo, believes in keeping it real, and uses mostly raw plant-based ingredients, good fats, and absolutely no preservatives or any other additives in her extensive range of cold pressed juices, delicious made-to-order salads, and sugar-free ice lollies.
The creative brief for this project was to create a strong and simple wordmark logo that could be applied effectively in one colour, for example on clear labels for bottled juices.
The fruit and vegetable juicing trend is currently well represented in America, especially New York, and brands such as The Butcher’s Daughter and Sweet Green were used as inspiration. The target audience for Olive Green Saladier would be largely health-conscious South Africans with disposable incomes initially based in Johannesburg, and the main competitors would likely be Woolworths and Kauai. To reflect Olive Green Saladier‘s old-fashioned values of authentic, unadulterated ingredients, we opted for a retro / hipster style wordmark and icon combination, using strong curved typography. The salad bowl icon was used in the Olive Green Saladier logo as a visual echo of the company name (Saladier is french for ‘salad bowl’), and to emphasise that this is a health food business.
Nadia is an outstanding graphic designer, who not only just designs your work, but thinks of your concept from inception right up to implementation. Her work is artistic, creative, quirky and most importantly very professional. She constantly exceeded my expectations when it came to her design work. She is very pedantic on the elements of your design work and very deadline driven. I would recommend her work to anyone, any day; she is definitely the best graphic designer I ever have worked with.
